Got myself a Syrp Genie and was able to try it out over the Weekend. This allows my timelapse to make a panning view and you can set up the degrees it pans, time, interval etc all on your smartphone app that is connected via bluetooth to the Genie. I was on Villerkopf near Innsbruck to test it on the cloud movement over Igls in Tirol. See video below.
Zirog
My family (wife and daughter) invited me to a mountain hut in the South Tyrolean Alps for my birthday. Zirog Enzianhütte is just past Brenner on the Austria/Italy border and reachable with an easy 2 hour hike. We picked the coldest day of the winter so far to hike up there and at sunset I wanted to take a nice picture and had it all planned with filter and longexposure with cloud movements etc. However at -20°C I packed up right after getting this shot. I was freezing!! Hope you like the shot I managed to get.

Gaisau
Between X-mas and new years I went for a walk around Gaisa which is a beautiful nature reserve between Hatting and Inzing. This scene is a well known one and never thought about taking a photo of it until i saw the colours. Still no snow but at least the atmosphere was calm and just what I needed after the festivities...
Vasco da Gama Bridge
While having a short week holiday in Algarve with friends we decided to leave Portimao at 4:00 am and drive to Lisbon to get this sunrise shot (above). Before our short trip to Portugal we spoke about getting this shot but never really thought we would do it. We arrived just in time for sunrise and to be honest we were very lucky to get one of the most colourful sunrises I have seen in a long time.
After we had the shot in the bag we spent the day in a busy Lisbon but realised very quickly that we are going to need to come back to appreciate this beautiful city with its wonderful inhabitants. Friendly people, great food, beautiful country. Thanks Portugal!
Algarve Portugal
Last week I was in Algarve with friends and had an amazing time - My main focus was to get some nice moody seascape shots and hiked up and down the coast line looking for some nice scenes to catch at sunrise or sunset. However in Algarve my favourite shot ended up being a Sports shot of this surfer at Praia da Rocha beach. I took this with my 100-400mm Canon lens on the Sony a7r using manual focus so it was hit and miss and on this shot it was HIT :-) Pretty happy with this. Algarve in winter is a gem, definitely worth a visit.
Here some Seascapes I managed to get at sunrise and sunset.
Firenze Italia
I was in Firenze (Florence) Italy for the rugby match between South Africa and Italy. As disappointing the Bokke were on the Saturday the sunrise the next morning was awesome! I doubt that many Italians were able to see it after their deserved celebrations from the night before. Sunday morning I set up on the Ponte Santa Trinita and waited for the sunrise. With my 10-stop ND I managed to get this shot.
Below a shot of the bridge I took the above picture from. B&W worked best due to the boring light we had at the time I took the shot.
Obernberger See
On the previous weekend a buddy and I went for a hike around the Obernberger See (Lake) in the Tyrolean Alps near the Italian border. I was surprised at the amount of snow already (mid November) but happy to see it and hope for a LOT more this winter. I love the mood the snowy winters bring and the peaceful atmosphere in the forest.
